2008 Race Update!
We have over 300 registered as of 3:30 5/27/08. Wow! That’s a lot of people splashing around in the water. We are anticipating that we will reach close to 400. With the 100 more swimmers than last year there a few critical components we need to make sure everyone is aware of.
Rules
1. Personal Escorts will not be permitted in the race course.
2. The race official’s primary concern will be for the health and
safety of the swimmers and reserve the right to disqualify
individuals and cancel the event if conditions warrant.
3. Wet Suits or other assistive devices may be used but swimmers
using them will not be eligible for prizes. You will also wear a
special colored cap so you will need to let them know at race packet
pick up if you will be wearing a wetsuit or fins.
Transportation to Race Start
Shuttle service from The Patriots Point will begin at 6:15 am. If
you do not pick up your race packet on Friday at the MTP RCC office,
you will need to go to Patriots to get your packet on Saturday
morning. No race packets will be at Hobcaw to pick up. We will be
able to number swimmers at Hocaw Yacht Club, so if you do pick up
your packet on Friday and you don’t want to use the shuttle, you can
go straight to Hobcaw and get dropped off. The last Shuttle bus will
leave Patriots Point at 7:35 am. We strongly discourage participants
from parking at Hobcaw Yacht Club. There is NO Parking Available and
vehicles will be turned away. There will be no shuttle service or
other form of transportation to return anyone to their car at
Hobcaw.
Day of and Late Registration
You can register at race packet pick at the MTP RCC on Friday from
12-7pm or Saturday morning from 6:30-7:15. After that point
registration will be closed. No exceptions. The registration fee
goes up from $45 to $55 Thursday 5/29 at midnight.
Check in Process
Friday race packet pick up will be at the RCC Mt. Pleasant Facility
(directions below) beginning at 12:30 pm and close at 7:00 pm. Race
day packet pick up will be at the shuttle area at Patriot’s Point
starting at 6:30 am and closing at 7:15.
Team Competition
If your team is competing in the Team Competition, please make sure
to let the registration crew know which team you are with. Your team
must have a minimum of 10 swimmers competing in the event.
